Helping people protect, enhance
and enjoy the places that matter to them

Partners

In Forces for Good: The Six Practices of High-Impact Nonprofits, authors Leslie Crutchfield and Heather McLeod Grant affirm the importance of developing strong partnerships:

"Building an organization is only part of the story. High-impact nonprofits work with and through other organizations—and they have much more impact than if they acted alone."

Engaging a broad base of the American public in historic preservation cannot be accomplished by any one organization. It takes a collaborative effort—bringing together the mission, interests, skills, activities, and resources of hundreds of groups and entities across the country at national, state, and local levels.

From state historic preservation offices to local Main Street programs, from citywide preservation organizations to national environmental groups to corporate America—all of us have a stake in preserving America’s stories and its future.

Whatever your affiliation or field of interest, you’ll find creative, cause-oriented opportunities for partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Main Street Partners

The National Trust Main Street Center works with statewide Main Street coordinating programs in almost every state as well as several citywide neighborhood programs and other regional/countywide programs. Our coordinator partners help build the capacity of local programs, grow the Main Street network, mobilize resources, and work in partnership with the Center to explore new solutions to revitalization challenges and respond to emerging trends throughout the nation. Coordinators also provide advocacy at the federal, state, and city level to encourage the support of “pro-Main Street” policy.

Statewide & Local Partners

More than 100 of the top nonprofit preservation organizations in the country have chosen to become Statewide and Local Partners of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The Statewide and Local Partners network provides nonprofits a forum for sharing model practices, solving organizational problems, and improving their effectiveness. Statewide and Local Partners have access to special National Trust benefits and resources. Affiliated organizations place high value on the opportunity to learn from each other and gain credibility in their direct association with a large national organization like the National Trust.

Policy Partners

The National Trust for Historic Preservation works with a wide variety of cultural heritage, environmental and conservation groups to promote and encourage a public policy agenda that benefits historic preservation at the Federal, state and local levels.  The National Trust also works closely with Federal and state agencies, non-profit groups and professional associations to ensure that historic preservation concerns are considered in the formulation of public policy at all levels of government.

Corporate Partners

Businesses know that a strong sense of community builds quality of life. One of the best tools for protecting and revitalizing our communities is historic preservation, which simultaneously safeguards our heritage and creates better neighborhoods. Since 1949, the National Trust for Historic Preservation has been providing leadership, education and advocacy to save America's diverse historic places and revitalize our communities and neighborhoods. Generous support from corporations helps the National Trust for Historic Preservation fulfill its mission. Companies large and small have provided financial and in-kind donations, and corporate leaders serving on our Board of Trustees help guide the organization through today's rigorous economic climate. Our corporate partners also benefit from working with us. They have found great success in reaching the vast preservation community by demonstrating that they care about our nation's heritage.
