Change the World. Start at Home.
Favorite places — everyone has one. The town we call home, the city we visited on vacation, somewhere our job sent us that we never expected to like — places that have the character to make us think, "I love that place." HGTV, in partnership with Rebuilding Together, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Natural Resources Defense Council, selected eight projects in cities across the U.S. to compete for resources to restore and enhance these historic veterans' group homes.
Anounced on March 16, 2009, the winning sites are the Windsor Transitional House in St. Louis, MO, and the home located at 4245 Romain Street in Philadelphia, PA. Chosen through an online public vote, these projects will receive much-needed renovations to make the houses more energy efficient and enjoyable for the veterans who call them home. In October 2009, the makeover of these two homes will be featured in an HGTV special. For the projects not selected by popular vote, HGTV will contribute $5,000.
HGTV Change the World. Start at Home campaign helps build stronger communities across America by helping those in need live better lives in better homes. The campaign also offers opportunities for Americans to get engaged in volunteer community projects. We encourage you to find out more about these projects and volunteer opportunities at HGTV.com/changetheworld.
