A $15,000 grant from the Jeffris Heartland Fund will assist the Bay Arts Council in Bay City, MI, with creation of a Historic Structure Report (HSR) for the Masonic Temple in downtown Bay City. The HSR will identify work critical for the stabilization and rehabilitation of the building and suggest appropriate treatment measures for the Masonic Temple's historic features. Located within the Center Avenue Historic District, the building features Moorish-influenced architecture, terracotta detailing, stained glass windows, and wood wainscoting. The Bay Arts Council purchased the building to save it from demolition and hopes to use the rehabilitated Masonic Temple as a community arts center, art academy, or arts incubator.
