In 2009, the South Side Community Art Center (SSCAC) on the South Side of Chicago, IL received a $4,700 grant from the Donnelley Preservation Fund for Illinois, which encourages grassroots preservation of the architectural and historic resources of Illinois.  The grant funding helped SSCAC conduct a condition assessment of the building, with recommendations for changes to better accommodate their many community arts programs, and suggestions for improved storage of their large collection of artwork by local artists. The Donnelley Preservation Fund was established in 1991 through the leadership of former National Trust for Historic Preservation Trustee Barbara Donnelley, her husband, Thomas, and family.
