About the Partners in Preservation Program:

The Greater Boston area is the fourth region to receive funding from American Express under the program. Launched in 2006, Partners in Preservation is a program in which American Express, in partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, pledged $5.5 million over a five-year period toward preserving historic places throughout the United States. American Express has already given away $2.4 million in preservation grants to sites in San Francisco Bay Area, Chicagoland and New Orleans.

About the Greater Boston Initiative:

Greater Boston's central role in the founding of our nation and the important place it holds in telling our country's story, makes it a perfect place for the Partners in Preservation program. American Express, in partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation and its Northeast Office in Boston, has identified historic places throughout the metro area that are eligible for preservation grants and reflect the region's rich and diverse cultural heritage. The public was invited to vote online from April 14 – May 17 for the places they wanted to see receive preservation funding. The winner of the public vote, Paragon Carousel, is guaranteed to receive a grant. The rest of the winning sites will be selected, with the public's input, by American Express, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and an Advisory Committee comprised of Greater Boston civic and preservation leaders. The full list of grant recipients will be announced on June 16.
