Diversity

The National Trust for Historic Preservation is committed to representing the diversity that defines American identity. The Office of Diversity Initiatives coordinates efforts between the National Trust and its regional offices and historic sites. The Southern Office reflects this philosophy in its own projects, and encourages African American and other cultural sites to become involved in preserving their built heritage. Some of these projects are important for historic events, others for their artistry, some, like the Rosenwald Schools, for their impact on the region as a whole. The Southern Office is committed to increasing awareness of culturally diverse projects and encouraging collaborative efforts to recognize the intertwined history of numerous cultures in this country.

Diversity Scholarship Program

The Diversity Scholarship Program is aimed at increasing the diversity of the attendees of the National Trust annual conference to more accurately represent the broad spectrum of the American story. This program has provided the financial assistance to over 1,100 individuals, many of whom are from our region.
