Treanor Architects seeks a motivated candidate, holding an accredited degree in Architecture, licensed or actively seeking licensure, with 5-7 years experience to join our Topeka, Kansas based preservation team. A degree in Historic Preservation is desired; candidates with college course work and/or professional experience in historic preservation are encouraged to apply. Architectural project design, rehabilitation project experience, heritage conservation planning, research and writing, materials conservation, Revit proficiency, verbal and graphic communication, self-management, and problem solving skills and experience are desired.


Duties

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research historical background of structure, technical issues, and code issues
  • Prepare investigation reports and bid documents, including drawings and technical specifications
  • Review contractor submittals
  • Serve as historic preservation technical point of contact providing interpretation for design and construction team
  • Provide potential solutions for historic preservation design challenges
  • Monitor site activity for any potential unanticipated adverse effects to historic resources, prepare site visit reports and develops responses to request for information
  • Provide Historic Preservation (“HP”) Principal with regular updates on status, issues, or challenges related to historic preservation issues on site
  • Act as liaison between HP contractors and other team members as necessary to facilitate proactive, creative solutions
  • Maintains project records

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • An accredited degree in Architecture is required; a supporting degree in Historic Preservation is desired however, candidates with college course work and/or professional experience in historic preservation are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Licensed or actively seeking licensure
  • 5-7 years of experience
  • The willingness to work as a team member and assist other Studios as necessary
  • Must be able and willing to travel outside of local area in order to attend meetings at various sites
  • High levels of activity and productivity
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to clearly convey information and ideas verbally and graphically
  • The ability to quickly grasp new concepts
