DAR Awards Education Grant to American College of the Building Arts
American College of the Building Arts
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will be donating $9,400 to The American College of the Building Arts for the creation of the DAR Special Collection, part of the College’s Byrne-Diderot Library. The Byrne-Diderot Library is comprised of over 6,000 volumes relating to the traditional building arts, including some works dating to the American Revolution. Funding for this project was made possible through the sponsorship of The Fort Sullivan Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, located in Charleston, SC.
The American College of Building Arts is the only four-year liberal arts college in America educating and training artisans in the traditional building arts, fostering exceptional craftsmanship and encouraging the preservation, enrichment and understanding of the world’s architectural heritage. The funds provided will be used to create the Daughters of the American Revolution Special Collections Room of rare books and historical tools relating to the building trades.
