Sustainability Resources for Forum Members and Partners

Baltimore Heritage Green Tour 2008
Local Partner Baltimore Heritage, Inc. hosted a "Green Tour" in June of 2008, which featured historic homes with green features.

This month, the Trust opened its Preservation Green Lab in Seattle, WA. The Preservation Green Lab, a project of the Trust’s Sustainability Program, will partner with selected cities and states to create innovative and sustainable policy, and showcase energy-efficient rehabilitation projects.

Much great thinking on the relationship between sustainability and historic preservation is contained in cutting edge discussions and analysis in Forum News and Journal articles, National Conference sessions, Forum-L discussion threads, and Preservation Books.

“Satisfying Building Codes the Green Way”

This session explored the conflicts that arise between existing building codes and sustainable design aspirations and described specific ways of using performance based design to both satisfy safety requirements and achieve sustainability goals. A 2007 Model Public Policy report from the National Trust on 21st century building codes as offered as a supplement to this session. Click here to read the report.

“Sustaining Communities through Neighborhood Schools”
