The original patented MICKY mouse creator, Rene Daniel Grove's Home and workshop / gift shop are planned to be bulldozed by Abington Township, Pennsylvania to make way for open space. Rather, the workshop/giftshop could be moved to the north side of the house and both preserved for millions of visitors to view the artwork and crafts of Rene D. Grove. Rene Grove's son, the first boy to play with MICKY Mouse is still alive and in good health. Location is 1373 - 1383 Easton Road, Roslyn, PA 19001. The home itself is said to date from the late 1700's.

Washington crossed the Delaware in 1776 to begin his march to Trenton to surprise and defeat the Hessian soldiers. The route is called "The Victory Trail" but the road is Trenton Harbourton Rd. Our County Executive has decided to destroy an important part of this trail to build a highway bridge and re-align the road causing this trail to become a tractor trailer cut through. The bridge that is currently on this trail is an 1800's Kings Iron Truss Bridge and is historic in its own right being one of two left in this County. The County's excuse is that the bridge can only accomodate 3 tons while the road is 4 tons. Building a new bridge will have a "no weight" limit as per County code. This part of the Victory Trail is said to look much the same as it did when Washington and 2400 men came by with 18 cannons and 100 horses. Where the bridge sits is a deep ravine and when Washington came to this site, it was a difficult ordeal and they almost turned back. It is described in David Hackett Fischers book, "Washington's Crossing". Please go to www.savethevictorytrail.com and show your support. We need your help! Thank you.

HemisFair Park, San Antonio, Texas. A strategy directed by San Antonio's city managers office to convert the city's historic downtown park and its National Historic Trail (El Camino Real de los Tejas) into a mixed-income, mixed use neighborhood is proceeding. This is an alarming new development.

I grew up watching my father and friends race outboard Hydroplane and Runabout boats at the Miami Marine Stadium. My father built the clock that was used in the races for many decades at the stadium. I have fond memories of picking up crabs under the stadium and practicing my baton on the front steps while my mom watched. It was and can be a beautiful facitity again.

Goshen Farm in Anne Arundel County, MD. Built in the late 1780's the house was the home to the Gardiner family, the Tydings family, the Brice family and lastly by Dr. Radoff who was the Maryland State Archivist. The Board of Ed now owns the property. We have formed a non-profit to save, restore and protect the house and property and to use it as a museum, community gardens and event facility. www.goshenfarm.org

Last week Chrysler announced the closing of hundreds of auto dealerships across the nation including the last of the original 25 Dodge dealers in the US. Tator's Dodge in South Salem, NY hopes to continue operating as a garage but If the economy and courts can't keep the dealership going is photographic documentation the only way to preserve this piece of American automobile history? Lewisboro Ledger -- Written by Matt Dalen -- Thursday, May 21, 2009 "Walking into Tator’s Dodge in South Salem is like walking back in time, from the vintage Coca-Cola vending machine to the original cash register, still in use after nearly 95 years. Yet the fate of the small car business, the country’s oldest remaining Dodge dealership, now lies in the hands of bankruptcy court Judge Arthur Gonzalez. Tator’s Dodge is one of almost 800 Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge dealerships around the country to be slated for elimination in Chrysler’s proposed restructuring, which Mr. Gonzalez is to rule on June 9. I visited Unity Temple in April of 2009 and was amazed at how many other more traditional churches were in the immediate area. It reminded me how significant and different Unity Temple was. Much like Pilgrim Church in Redding, California, FLW spoke to the church people through architecture in a way that brought meaning to their congregation.

Just heard about Century City Plaza Hotel. I live in Vegas now but came up in L.A. and I once went for an interview for a commercial job their about 43 years ago! I have no money to join or contribute your fight to keep that landmark hotel but, I hope it will remain. I suggest Facebook to get L.A people to help hold on to it!
