Homeowner Workshops and Conferences
Want to learn how to repair your old windows and properly weatherize your older or historic house?
Homeowner workshops, lectures, and conferences are available to help.
From coast to coast, historic preservation organizations are offering training opportunities – many of which are free – to assist current or aspiring owners of older and historic homes. Through expert demonstrations and hands-on training, homeowners are gaining the know-how and skills to learn just how easy it is to maintain and improve the energy efficiency of their homes.
Venues and workshop offerings vary greatly, from a half-day demonstration on fixing your roof to a three-day course on window restoration. To find out if a workshop is planned in your community or state, start by checking in with your local or statewide preservation organization. Many of these organizations offer annual homeowner workshops, old house fairs, expos, and other ways to learn more about weatherizing older and historic homes.
Some upcoming workshops around the country are noted below. Interested in adding a workshop or event to the line-up? E-mail weatherization@nthp.org with all of the information and a link.
