Great American Main Street Awards®

Great American Main Street Awards®

Big box strip malls, planned “town centers” and suburban sprawl have left many Main Streets and city business districts depressed and abandoned. But many communities made a come back and have transformed their older and historic downtowns and shopping districts into vibrant places to live, work, and play--without sacrificing what makes them special.

Each year, the National Trust Main Street Center® recognizes the best and the brightest - five Main Street communities whose passion, innovation, and inspiring success serve as a model for communities throughout the nation.

Selected by a nationwide jury of community development experts, each of the winners has proven that incremental progress - and persistence - pays off, creating economic vitality, a unique sense of place, and a greater commitment to community by all of its residents. Here are the 2010 winners.
