Coordinate all project activities within the downtown revitalization program and serve as a liaison between the downtown business community and the local government.
Duties
· Coordinates the activities of the Main Street program.
· Manages all office managerial tasks including, but not limited to maintaining appropriate data systems, record keeping, purchasing, preparing and submitting monthly reports, budgeting, filing, email and telephone inquiries, etc.
· Develops strategies for downtown economic development.
· With the committees and Board of Directors, creates an annual Plan of Work focused on four areas: Design, Promotion, Economic Restructuring and Organization
· Develops and conducts public awareness and education programs. Through speaking engagements, media interviews and contacts, keeps the downtown program visible.
· Provides advice and guidance to individual tenants and property owners regarding design enhancements and business development.
· Provides advice and information, assesses, encourages and manages all events – marketing, special events, retail and image building campaigns, etc.
· Coordinates, administers and manages Commerce Cultural Center facility rental, maintenance, etc.
· Coordinates, administers and manages Commerce Business Information Center as well as Downtown Development Authority office and all properties owned or managed by the DDA/Main Street Program.
· Maintains an up-to-date website and social networking sites.
· Coordinates and manages downtown streetscape and beautification programs as well as Spencer Park and Cultural Center maintenance.
· Builds strong, productive working relationships with appropriate public agencies at the local, regional, state and national levels.
· Builds strong, productive working relationships with local and regional community and economic development agencies as well as all other downtown stakeholders – financial institutions, civic clubs, chamber of commerce, etc.
· Maintain excellent communication with Board of Directors, committees, Commerce Area Business Association and City of Commerce staff and administrators.
· Coordinate and recruit an active volunteer force.
· Coordinates fundraising campaigns including, but not limited to, grant writing, corporate sponsorships, private foundation support, individual gifts, etc.
· Coordinates and manages public relations efforts including, but not limited to, monthly newsletters, flyers, posters, press releases and all advertising ventures.
· Coordinates and manages financial incentives for prospective and current property and business owners.
· Serves as first contact for the public and local government on preservation issues in the downtown's commercial district.
· Helps organization coordinate business improvement seminars and workshops.
· Coordinates data collection, analysis and other economic development activities including, but not limited to, rental rate plan, business mix plan, property inventory, business solicitation packet, etc.
· Creates viable systems for recruitment, supervision and reward of volunteers.
Qualifications
· Dynamic self-starter
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Knowledge of public administration principles
· Exceptional organizational skills
· Knowledge of historic preservation issues and concerns
· Managerial experience
· Facility to work with individuals at all levels of management
· Demonstrated success in fundraising management
· Expertise in program planning and budgeting
· Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings
· Bachelors degree from a four year accredited college or university
· Masters degree preferred
· Major focus – Public Administration, Business Administration, Historic Preservation, Marketing, Public Relations, Planning, Nonprofit Administration, Economic Development, Community Revitalization
· Two plus years of progressive experience dealing with downtown revitalization or Main Street organization.
