Magic Walls and Other Ways to Rescue Deadly and Dreadful Meetings

Ever been to bogged-down meetings that produced few results? Ever wished your board or committee could focus on one topic at a time, hear from each member, and make decisions? John Monroe will demonstrate tools to address common meeting problems as identified by participants at the start of this session. Primarily, you'll learn how to use the "Magic Wall" — by using it. (While the wall itself isn't actually magical, the results may feel that way.) You'll receive a handout of detailed Magic Wall instructions, e-mailed solution templates for common meeting snafus, and an individual telephone consultation for a specific meeting problem you'd like to solve. Even if you're not a committee chairperson, you can introduce these techniques to resuscitate deadly meetings.

Learning Objectives:

  • Incorporate a Magic Wall into board and committee meetings to organize information and engage members
  • Solve chronic meeting problems by crafting better agendas and beginning each meeting with a set of agreements.
  • Make a Magic Wall for less than $100
