The Power of Destination Marketing

Learn how to leverage partnerships that promote Main Street districts as must-see tourist destinations. This panel discussion will feature tips from the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department on ways that districts can increase their appeal to visitors, including the kind of amenities that are important and ways to make the district more inviting through wayfinding and other strategies. Main Street Claremore (Okla.) will describe how its collaboration with the local CVB has boosted the district's marketing through travel shows, exhibitions, advertising, walking tour itineraries, and brochures that showcase the district's shopping, dining, and historic sites. Tahlequah (Okla.) Main Street will explain how its close relationship with the adjacent Cherokee Nation and state university has created a coordinated, innovative approach to promoting its unique cultural heritage and historic attractions.
