Its Holiday time here in Iowa and you may be surprised to know that in addition to hearing the phrase “Merry Christmas”, you may also notice the holiday greeting “Rehus-Beal-Ledeats”, “Prejeme Vam Vesele Vanoce a stastny Novy Rok”, “Joyeux Noel” or “Feliz Navidad”!
Yes, there is diversity in Iowa, and our team is working on a plan to showcase the best of Iowa’s culture at the Main Street Bash on Tuesday evening during the National Main Streets Conference in Des Moines. The FUNction will be an outdoor street fair in Historic Valley Junction, a 24-year Main Street community.
You will want to come early to explore more than 150 specialty stores, art galleries, fashion boutiques, restaurants and antique shops in this commercial district just a few minutes from downtown Des Moines.
Then stay for the food and fun! On the Main Stage will be live music by the Tony Valdez Large Band, with entertainment from belly dancers to musicians playing the pan flute at six additional locations in the two-block area.
Vendors will provide a variety of cuisine, ranging from Asian and Greek specialties to barbeque and pizza, to tickle your taste buds. No one will leave hungry or thirsty!
Your ticket will entitle you to motor coach transportation, and $25.00 in “fun money” you can spend on food, beverage, or shopping throughout the district!
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the city of West Des Moines and the Historic Valley Junction Foundation, you will ENJOY a FREE EVENING, as ticket price for this event is only $25.00 and you get $25 bucks back!
You won’t want to miss the Main Street Bash this year! It’ll be a party in any language!
