Saturday, April 13, 6:00-9:00 p.m.
The entire French Quarter will serve as the setting for this year’s opening reception! The annual French Quarter Festival is the official kickoff to festival season in New Orleans, featuring more than 800 local musicians, some 65 local restaurants, and other free events. French Quarter Fest is the largest FREE music festival in the South and the favorite festival of the locals!
As Main Street Conference attendees, you will get free food and beverage tickets that can be redeemed at the booths of your choice. You’ll also enjoy a wide variety of musical entertainment at numerous stages located throughout the French Quarter. Be sure to stick around for the spectacular fireworks show on the Mississippi River at 9:00 p.m.
During the opening reception, you can make The Presbytere your home base to meet friends, get tickets, and utilize restroom facilities. The Presbytere is located next door to St. Louis Cathedral on Jackson Square in the heart of both the French Quarter and the Festival. Built in 1791, the building currently houses two ongoing exhibits, “Mardi Gras: It’s Festival Time in Louisiana” and “Living with Hurricanes: Katrina and Beyond.” Access to these exhibits is free for conference attendees.
Plan ahead for your opening reception experience by visiting the French Quarter Festival’s website at www.fqfi.org, where you will find a full schedule of the music acts and a map of the festival locations. You can also download a French Quarter Festival app to your smart phone. Find the link for the app at the bottom of the French Quarter Festival website.
