This session will examine the opportunity to use the craft beer and spirit movement as an economic driver for downtown growth. Explore successful business models, how to cultivate relationships with prospective craft brewers and distillers, new business opportunities to farmers, and creative funding mechanisms. Learn about the cultural, historic, economic and related benefits associated with recruiting such businesses to your downtown. Two current case studies will be covered in depth, with a focus on recruiting, financing, and developing partners.

Rick Ferrell is the principal of Retail Market Answers, LLC (RMA), which specializes in economic and business development planning and implementation services. Prior to forming RMA, Rick spent 20 years in shopping center development, redevelopment, leasing, management, marketing, and operations. He has worked in executive capacities with the Rouse Company, Compass Retail, Arbor Property Trust, and Forest City Ratner Companies.
