| Sunday, May 18 | 10:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. | Room: LaSalle A | Session Track: PD
Boards are the bedrock of an effective Main Street organization. The growth and development of local revitalization efforts is intimately tied to the quality of board members. In this session, learn about the best practices nonprofit organizations can use to strategically improve their board, find new and better board members, and make Main Street board service compelling and competitive. The role of the nominating committee will be discussed, with an emphasis on recruitment, selection, obligations, orientation and training, and how to organize for best results. A board skills matrix, member contract, and orientation contents will be reviewed and provided.
