This is a one year grant funded position, with full benefits.  Possible extension of the position is based on availability of funds.

The Community Revitalization Department of the National Trust for Historic Preservation is seeking a qualified individual to provide real estate consulting and technical assistance services in the Gulf Coast region.   Position will be located in the New Orleans Field Office and will report directly to the Director of Strategic Services in Washington, DC.  Responsibilities include coordinating a wide range of consulting and training services; working with local community development and historic preservation organizations to identify and implement catalytic projects; developing and delivering training workshops; communicating with key local, state and national leaders; engaging diverse communities and constituents in preservation based community development; and building partnerships to enhance the capacity for preservation based approaches to the Gulf Recovery effort.  


Duties

  • Create and deliver training programs and workshops focused on real estate finance and tax credits;
  • Conduct assessments of the real estate development capacity of community development and historic preservation organizations. Assist organizations in creating target plans to increase their capacity for preservation-based development.
  • Provide technical assistance and consulting services either directly or through the supervision of third party consultants;
  • Liaison with National Trust for Historic Preservation's Southeast Regional Office, New Orleans Field Office, National Trust Main Street Center, National Trust Loan Fund, and National Trust Community Investment Corporation to promote coordinated and strategic use of NTHP resources;
  • Prepare financial feasibility analyses, loan packages and tax credit analyses;
  • Market the National Trust for Historic Preservation's real estate consulting services;.
  • Generate fee for service revenues and assist in raising grant funding to support consulting services
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Director of Strategic Services.
  • Develop and implement annual work plan and budget for technical assistance services and real estate consulting services 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant real estate finance experience, preferably in the field of community development field.
  • Master's degree or equivalent work experience in community development and/or non-profit lending and providing technical assistance to non-profit developers
  • Real estate underwriting experience, including experience reading and analyzing market studies, operating expenses, development and operating pro formas, construction cost reviews, and partnership agreements.
  • Highly motivated with ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong financial modeling skills particularly with respect to modeling historic and New Markets tax credits
  • Proficiency in  MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Grant writing and/or resource development experience.
  • Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as required.
