The Glass House New Media Manager will provide leadership to establish a new standard for how museums and historic sites can leverage the web to develop and launch new programs and audience building tools.  The Glass House's on-line scholarship, programs and forums will be central to becoming a "Center for Modernism" nationally for the National Trust for Historic Preservation and link directly to the organization's web initiatives.  This position will manage the overall brand for the Glass House, its design application across all media and print projects and develop and manage the marketing & communications strategies to enhance overall audience development.

Duties

Web site Leadership

Glass House (GH) site:

Leadership oversight of  the Glass House Website.

  • Participate on Glass House programming teams to integrate vision of web-use to increase content depth and interactivity as well as reach new media audiences. 
  • Manage topics for on-line content & forums - coordinate teams to develop web-content and research topics for online articles, upload articles and related images to website
  • Plan and execute Glass House web editorial schedule
  • Integrate new media tools to create the highest level of audience engagement for GH web-site
  • Assist in editing and fact-checking content
  • Conceptualize and write online content 
  • Create/oversee production of interactives, audio, video and other multimedia
  • Publish content and photos into Content Management System
  • Secure photo and or video rights as-needed 
  • Reporting on web-stats to determine

National Trust + GH site Coordination:

  • Serve in leadership role to create synergies & a strong relationship between the Glass House Website and the National Trust for Historic Preservation (www.preservationnation.org)'s digital strategy
  • Serve as the leader for how the "Center for Modernism" (national view of modernism) relates to GH content & interactives (as well as Preservation Nations' efforts)

E-Communications

  • Design/code e-invitations for Glass House events
  • Design/code monthly email announcements and link to web content
  • Constant Contact maintenance: update new subscribers, acquisitions
  • Manage weekly Invitation to Visitor Survey and Visitor Survey reports

Design

  • Design/layout invitations, print advertisements, brochures, posters, postcards, event, program collateral
  • Manage ongoing printing of Glass House stationery, business cards and other collateral
  • Coordinate various departmental printing requirements
  • Work with print vendors and creative consultants
  • Serve as an in-house consultant for staff with regards to applying and adhering to organizational brand

Strategic Marketing  & Communications

  • Establish an annual strategy which develops marketing & communications programs to accomplish GH goals.  This strategy should support all aspects of GH programming, fundraising and audience development.
  • Design, implement and manage online programs focusing on building awareness and audience, marketing the Glass House brand, and generating contributed and earned revenue
  • Develop and execute results-oriented direct response programs to support fundraising opportunities 
  • Plan and execute monthly e-blasts schedule to align with goals
  • Initiate new strategic marketing ideas
  • Manage weekly and monthly reporting, optimization and tracking
  • Provide support for other areas of marketing as needed, e.g., Shop commissions
  • Coordinate strategic marketing & communications with PT public relations manager

Day-to-Day New Media Administration

  • Schedule and coordinate new media meetings
  • Implement effective use of technology
  • Work with Development Manager to create seamless interface between PastPerfect - Constant Contact
  • Manage Glass House new media budget, working with Director of Finance on cost/benefit analysis
  • Coordinate resources on Glass House online/print projects, including temporary support, e.g., interns
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of experience in graphic design and interactive design
  • Expertise in: CS3: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator; Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Online: Dreamweaver, HTML, Flash-recommended not required
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to project manage single- and multi-component projects
  • Self-directed, with ability to meet deadlines, often within very tight timeframes and shifting priorities; ability to work in fast-paced environment with flexibility.
  • Understanding of MAC, Adobe programs, HTML, rich media, Constant Contact, browsers and design constraints on the web, blog, and social networking sites. 
  • High level interest in modern architecture a plus.
  • Must be able to articulate the site's mission to a wide range of audiences.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays. 
  • Retail experience a plus.
