The Communications Intern will be an integral member of the Communications team at the National Trust for Historic Preservation. He/she will assist with high-profile programs, media relations, daily operations, and the monitoring, development and maintenance of online content in a fast-paced communications department.
This is an unpaid internship, but with a flexible part time schedule and offering terrific experience in PR and media relations.
Duties
- Manage a project independently, to be based on personal interests.
- Assist with the development, repurposing and editing of content for the website;
- Create online content for high-profile National Trust programs: Dozen Distinctive Destination, 11 Most Endangered Historic Places;
- Assist with management of Press Center;
- Build strategic media lists;
- Manage and edit digital assets;
- Administrative tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- Current or recent undergraduate or graduate student; focus in communications, historic preservation, history or journalism desirable.
Desired Experience
- Experience working in communications, marketing, or administration;
- Experience producing online content and user experiences;
- Experience creating and managing detailed projects, including drafting project plans, schedules, and reports.
Special Skills
- Excellent writing, editing, and research skills required;
- Extensive experience with computers, digital media and the Internet required;
- Strong word, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills preferred;
- Familiarity with content management systems, Photoshop and FTP preferred.
