Working in the Office of Statewide & Local Partnerships, the intern will load PreservationNation content onto the new website, converting and uploading material relevant to our Rural Hertiage Development Initiative efforts in Kentucky, Arkansas and other areas. 


Duties

The project will involve copying some current web content into new pages, re-purposing material from various other formats, editing and adapting to new messaging standards as needed, as well as to new web content guidelines and for new Web2.0 and social networking uses.  Interns will help identify usefulness of material for various purposes and will tag for interest topics and suggest linkages to other programs, pages and sites.  Through their day to day work, interns will gain in-depth exposure to a number of topics within historic preservation, as well as experience in principles of online communication and web management, and will learn to use Convio content management tools. 

Qualifications

Some knowledge of databases, word processing, and spreadsheet software. A familiarity with CMS-based websites is a plus, as is an understanding of Adobe PhotoShop, and project planning.  They should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to analyze and organize a large volume of information is essential. Knowledge of or familiarity with issues of community planning, rural heritage, land trusts, open space preservation, and economic development in small towns a plus.
