Venable Tobacco Campus
North Carolina| Posted: 12/21/2005
A $310,000 National Preservation Loan Fund loan to Pettigrew Street Partners, LLC supports the initial construction work on the National Register-listed Venable Tobacco campus in Durham, North Carolina. The property, consisting of more than three acres and five buildings (100,000 square feet) will be adapted to serve as wet lab space, offices for research and development groups and affiliated businesses such as venture capital. The $14.8 million project, to be known as the Triangle Biotechnology Center at Venable, preserves one of the few remaining clusters of buildings dedicated to the intermediate stage of tobacco production—between the farmer and the factory.
