National Preservation Conference 2008

Preservation in Progress

October 21 – October 25, 2008 Tulsa, OK

Postmarked Deadline May 31, 2008

The National Trust for Historic Preservation provides leadership, education and advocacy to save the nation’s diverse historic places and revitalize our communities.  The National Trust is committed to representing the full breadth of our nation’s experience in its activities and to leading the historic preservation movement in promoting and including diversity in its goals.  It is the policy of the National Trust to continually broaden, expand, and promote diverse participation in all its employment practices, advocacy efforts, programs and activities, sites, publications, communications, marketing, technical and legal assistance and field work.  National Trust staff, volunteers and members represent diverse cultures, backgrounds, experiences, disabilities, veteran status, and religions to expand the diversity of our human resources.

The goal of the Diversity Scholarship Program is to increase the diversity of participants at the annual National Preservation Conference and in the preservation movement.  The Program provides financial assistance to approximately 60 community leaders from diverse social, economic, racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds to attend the National Preservation Conference.  Through interactive sessions, presentations, informal gatherings, and tours in Tulsa and its surrounding areas, participants will learn the necessary tools to strengthen their commitment to and effectiveness in preserving historic places and revitalizing communities.

The National Trust seeks diverse applicants whose attendance at the Conference will benefit their communities and whose commitment to historic preservation will be reinforced by their participation.  Recipients will have an opportunity to express their perspectives during the Conference, as well as take advantage of National Trust programs after the Conference.

For more information about the National Preservation Conference, contact the National Trust at 202-588-6100 or visit www.nthpconference.org.
