Community Properties of Ohio (CPO), a subsidiary of the Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing, conducted a $100 million citywide restoration project that rehabilitated more than 200 buildings in seven historic neighborhoods over a seven-year period and brought safer, modernized conditions to 1,300 families living in Section 8 housing. Developers painstakingly upgraded interiors, replaced missing porches, and installed decorative fences to create attractive courtyards and increase security. Color and landscaping were added to integrate the buildings seamlessly into their neighborhoods. These improvements, plus tenant counseling services, have made a tremendous impact.
