Keynote Speeches from the National Preservation Conference
During the National Preservation Conference opening plenary, National Trust President Stephanie Meeks delivered her keynote address entitled “House Museums: A 20th Century Paradigm.” She looked at current models for protecting house musems and encouraged preservationists to consider alternate paths to the preservation and reuse of these sites. Richard Moe, the former president of the National Trust and the 2013 recipient of the Louise du Pont Crowninshield award, reflected on the four “Rs” of preservation from his time in the trenches: restoration, revitalization, relevance, and risk.
