How Your Support Helps

Your support leads to preservation victories.

84 cents of every dollar you give to the National Trust for Historic Preservation goes to the implementation of our preservation and outreach programs. Read our Donor Bill of Rights to learn more about your rights as donors and Members.

Support from Members has helped us win important preservation battles, such as the fight to protect Virginia’s Wilderness Battlefield – the historic place where Generals Robert E. Lee and  Ulysses S. Grant faced one another for the first time during the Civil War – from inappropriate commercial development, including a Wal-Mart Supercenter.

Member support has also enabled us to work directly with local preservation organizations, like the Galveston Historical Foundation in Texas, to rehabilitate buildings damaged by Hurricane Ike and revitalize the surrounding communities.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation receives no government funding for our operations, so member dues and contributions are crucial if we are to continue our work protecting America’s irreplaceable architectural and cultural heritage.
