As residents of the Mill District in Minneapolis, we are surrounded by reminders of what really put Minneapolis on the map back in 1880 when it first became known as “The Flour Milling Capital of the World.” On Saturday, April 11 at 3 PM, my neighbors and I will meet on the Stone Arch Bridge that crosses the Mississippi River and create our own bit of history using St. Anthony Falls as our backdrop. We have been circulating emails and a flyer to the various condo and apartment buildings that border the riverfront and have also invited others who care deeply about this unique place and want to join us for a photo shoot as one of the “This Place Matters” events. We also will photograph ourselves in the midst of Mill Ruins Park, a unique park that retains the remnants of our milling history. Look for our photos as part of the “This Place Matters” campaign soon!
