Waxahachie Chautauqua Preservation Society
Waxahachie is blessed with many historic resources which have been preserved and are enjoyed today. However, the Chautauqua Auditorium is one of the true jewels of the community.
One of the only remaining Chautauquas in the United States, and especially of this unusual design, the Waxahachie Chautauqua Auditorium serves not only as a testament to Waxahachie's rich history but also as one of the few surviving remnants of a uniquely American turn of the century cultural movement. With the establishment of the Chautauqua Preservation Society and its commitment to organize and conduct the annual assembly, the Waxahachie Chautauqua Auditorium is still fulfilling the original mission by continuing to operate as a true Chautauqua.
In addition to the annual assembly, the Chautauqua serves the community by hosting other singing, theatrical, educational, cultural, and personal events in a facility that is unequalled in beauty and history. Its placement in Getzendaner Park allows citizens and visitors of all ages a chance to see one of the truly unique assets of Waxahachie and Texas.
