The Montgomery County Historical Society collects, interprets, and promotes the history, heritage and culture of Montgomery County, Maryland. It operates the Beall-Dawson House Museum, the Stonestreet Museum of 19th Century Medicine, and the Sween Research Library, which attract scholars, volunteers, professionals, and participants of all ages. Each building is used for programs and exhibits and to house important collections related to Montgomery County. Artifacts date from prehistory to the present, and the Library maintains extensive collections of photographs, books, manuscripts, maps, newspapers, and other materials that are indispensable to understanding County history.
