The City Island Nautical Museum is housed in a school building that was designed by C.B.J. Snyder in 1897 and is now on the National Register of Historic Places and a designated NYC landmark. The Museum displays artifacts, images, and models that tell the history of this small maritime community in the northeast Bronx famed for its yacht-building past. In addition to displaying and maintaining the permanent collection and mounting temporary exhibitions, the volunteer staff provides tours for visiting school groups and organizations interested in City Island. Regular hours for the public are on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.
