An impeccably preserved 18th century rice plantation headquarters and home to the country's oldest landscaped gardens. Established in 1741 by Henry Middleton, one of America's Founding Fathers, the site contains stylized formal gardens, a House Museum containing family treasures dating to the early 1700s, and the Plantation Stableyards, where visitors can interact with costumed interpreters to learn about life on a South Carolina rice plantation.
