Wadsworth Longfellow House was built in 1785-1786, for General Peleg Wadsworth a Revolutionary War General grandfather of the famous poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The poet grew up in the home that is filled with original family furnishings, from the 1700 and 1800,s. In the back of the home are the Longfellow gardens open to the public free of charge during the season with areas to sit and enjoy the beautiful flowers, trees and plants.
