The Grant Wood Studio is the structure most intimately associated with the life and art of Grant Wood. Through the generosity of his patron, David Turner, Wood was allowed to develop the upper story of the carriage house into his private residence and studio. He lived and worked in this small structure from approximately 1924-1934, where he created many of his most famous paintings, including American Gothic (1930).
