National Trust Historic Sites

1785 Massachusetts Avenue

Since 1979, 1785 Massacchusetts Avenue NW in Washington's Dupont Circle neighborhood has been home to the National Trust for Historic Preservation's headquarters. Constructed in 1915-17, the building is a National Historic Landmark and is part of the Dupont Circle Historic District, which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Acoma Sky City

The adobe houses, plazas, and walkways on the 367-foot tall mesa have been used for nearly one thousand years, making Acoma Sky City in Acoma, NM, the oldest continuously inhabited community in the United States. A National Trust Historic Site.

African Meeting House

This meeting house was the centerpiece of Nantucket Island's free African-American community during the height of the whaling industry in the 19th century.

African Meeting House and Abiel Smith School

The African Meeting House (1806) is the oldest existing black church building in the country. Black artisans are largely responsible for building the church. African American artisans were largely responsible for building this structure. The Smith School was the nation's first building constructed for the sole purpose of housing a black public school. Both buildings are located in the historically African American section of Beacon Hill, MA.

Belle Grove

Belle Grove (Middletown, Virginia) was built as the home of the Isaac Hite family in the early 19th century. The stone house, outbuildings, and surrounding farm are a National Trust Historic Site.

Brucemore

A delightful Queen Anne-style house in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, that was once the home of the Sinclair, Douglas, and Hall families. A National Trust Historic Site.

Chesterwood

Daniel Chester French was a leading turn-of-the-century sculptor. His studio, Chesterwood, nestled in Stockbridge, MA, provided a retreat from New York's urban life. A National Trust Historic Site.

Cliveden

Built as a summer house by Benjamin Chew, colonial Chief Justice of Pennsylvania, Cliveden (Philadelphia, PA) was maintained by his family for over 200 years. A National Trust Historic Site.

Cooper-Molera Adobe

The changes from life during the Mexican to American eras of the 19th century are interpreted at the Cooper-Molera Adobe (Monterey, CA) . A National Trust Historic Site.

Decatur House

Decatur House is one of the oldest surviving homes in Washington, DC, and one of only three remaining residential buildings in the country designed by Benjamin Henry Latrobe, the father of American architecture. A National Trust Historic Site.
