Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site

This was Augustus St. Gaudens' summer residence from 1885-1897 and his permanent home from 1900 until his death in 1907. He spent the height of his career in Cornish, where he sculpted many of his most famous works, including the Standing Lincoln, the Sherman Monument, the U.S. $10 and $20 gold pieces and portrait reliefs. The site contains two hiking trails, six buildings that are open to the public, three exhibition galleries with artwork, a studio for a sculptor-in-residence interpretive program, a Stable building with antique carriages, and "Aspet," Saint-Gaudens' 18th-century furnished historic house.
