Beginning in the 1840s, millions of immigrants poured into New York City, seeking a new and better life for themselves and their families. Once home to 7,000 of these intrepid pioneers between 1863 and 1935, the museum now provides a unique look into the lives of its former residents and the history of New York’s Lower East Side. Owned and operated by the Lower East Side Tenement Museum.
The Lower East Side Tenement Museum is owned and operated by the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, Inc.
