Cairo Rosenwald School
Gallatin, TN
Constructed in 1925, the Cairo Rosenwald School served as a public school until 1959 and continues to operate as a center for community meetings and other events.
The funds will be used to stabilize the foundation, repair the roof, update electrical and climate control systems, and restore the building to its original design.
Once restored, the building will better serve the rural community of Cairo, as well residents of several nearby counties. The building will continue to be used as a community and meeting center, and as a rental facility for events.
The Tennessee Preservatoin Trust will manage the restoration project. For more information, visit www.tennesseepreservationtrust.org.
