Hickory Colored School

Hickory, KY

Lowes Logo 2

The Hickory Colored School is a one room schoolhouse built in 1925.

Currently abandoned in a rural area, the building will be completely restored and relocated from Hickory to the Graves County School campus in Mayfield.  There it will serve as a museum for local educational memorabilia, a learning center for Graves County students, and a meeting place for other community groups.

The complete restoration will include structural work; a new roof; interior repairs to the walls, floor and ceiling; exterior repairs to windows and siding; updated wiring to meet fire codes; as well as general site work.  Original materials will be restored and reused whenever possible.

The Graves County Board of Education will manage the restoration project.  Visit www.graves.kyschools.us for more information.
