Walnut Cove Colored School
Walnut Cove, NC
The Walnut Cove Colored School was built in 1921. The building was first restored and reopened in 1999 as a senior center.
The grant funds will be used to continue the restoration of the Walnut Cove Colored School. New storm windows will be installed to reduce energy costs, leaks in the roof will be repaired, and the ceiling will be painted.
Once complete, the building will continue to function as a senior center.
The Walnut Cove Colored School and Walnut Cove Senior Center will manage the restoration project.
