Fishing was a major occupation of the Chinese of the Guangdong province, China, and along the Pacific Coast. Shrimp was important in many Cantonese dishes. Between the 1860s - 1880s, the industry grew in this area. There is a shrimp drying shed (ca. 1880-90) of brick, with a redwood frame addition (ca. 1910-20) two floating houses (1900), residences, and other Chinese artifacts and buildings.
