Designed by the famous African American architect James Garrott, this building was constructed in 1928 to house the largest African American owned insurance company west of the Mississippi.  The Mission Revival style building was a centerpiece of the thriving Los Angeles African American community, and is currently being used as a child development center.  The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.
