Japan Town (San Francisco)

San Francisco, California

About 12,000 Japanese Americans live in the area. Originally, the Japanese settled in and around Chinatown, but after World War II, they resettled in this community. Important historic sites within Japan Town include Yoshiro Taniguchi's Peace Pavilion, Buddhist Church of San Francisco, the Sokoji-Soto Zen Buddhist Temple, the Konko ("Golden Light") Church of San Francisco, and the Kabuki Hot Springs (see individual site listings for more info.)
