This urban adventure to New York's hidden corners includes historic Greenwich Village; Staten Island's Sailors Snug Harbor complex of 19th-century Greek Revival buildings; Governors Island, a 92-acre National Historic Landmark District; and Ellis Island, where we'll compare the old buildings on the island's south side (not open to the general public) with the fully restored north side. Journey through 250 years of the Upper West Side's amazing history and in Brooklyn, visit the Heights, America's first suburb, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and the restored Navy Yard. A visit to the dynamic lower East Side Tenement Museum, a National Trust Historic Site, is also planned.
