Explore San Francisco and Los Angeles; visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Hearst Castle. Enjoy unique Tauck experiences like a privately guided walk with a naturalist in Yosemite; a private wine tasting at a Sonoma Valley vineyard; and a guided visit to the J. Paul Getty Museum. Tour Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrive indepntently San Francisco; Welcome reception and dinner at your historic hotel The Westin St. Francis
Day 2 - San Francisco sightseeing tour that includes Nob Hill, Chinatown, Lombard Street, Coit Tower, the Victorian homes known as the "Painted Ladies" and Fisherman's Wharf. Head over the Golden Gate Bridge to the lush Sonoma Valleyfor a wine tasting and vineyard tour at a Sonoma winery and lunch in Sausalito
Day 3 - Travel through California's Gold Country, with its historic communities created during the Gold Rush boom years of the 1850s. Then head into the Sierra Nevada to Yosemite National Park for two nights at The Ahwahnee, a National Historic Landmark constructed in 1927.
Day 4 - Enjoy a privately guided two-hour morning walking tour of Yosemite with a local naturalist. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is then yours to explore as you please for the rest of the day.
Day 5 - Head to the historic village of Wawona; set entirely inside Yosemite. Have lunch at the Wawona Hotel, a classic Victorian-era lodge built in the 1870s then walk around The Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias
Day 6 - Enjoy a demonstration of authentic early mining equipment on a visit to the Mariposa Museum and History Center. After lunch, begin winding our way through the rich farmland of the San Joaquin Valley. Stop in the quiet town of Merced, then continue on to fashionable Carmel-by-the-Sea on the Pacific coast, taking some time to explore the town's celebrated galleries and boutiques. Arrive in the beautiful, historic coastal city of Monterey for a two-night stay at the InterContinental The Clement Monterey
Day 7 - Visit the aquatic world of the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Catch a glimpse of the Monterey Peninsula's impressive homes and stunning beaches as you travel the 17-Mile Drive through Pacific Grove, Asilomar and Del Monte Forest to Cypress Point, home of the Pebble Beach golf course.
Day 8 – Enjoy one of the most scenic drives in North America... the Pacific Coast Highway portion of California State Highway 1. Stop along the way for a walking tour of the historic Hearst Castle (San Simeon).
Day 9 - Depart your oceanfront resort in Santa Barbara and view the historic Mission Santa Barbara. Then, with a stop at a local beach en route, it's on to The Langham Huntington – a longtime retreat for Hollywood celebrities – for a two-night stay spent exploring the Los Angeles area, including Hollywood.
Day 10 - Sightseeing tour of the entertainment capital including posh Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, Sunset Strip and Grauman's Chinese Theater in downtown Hollywood. Spend the afternoon viewing priceless works lining the galleries of the J. Paul Getty Museum in the Getty Center. Farewell dinner at the hotel tonight.
Day 11 - A transfer is included from the hotel to the Los Angeles International Airport.
