In Search of Ancient Lost Cities
April 27 – May 8, 2015
The “lost cities” of the title are actually not so much lost as seldom visited – the Roman capital of Corsica at Aleria; Phoenician Sant’Antioco off Sardinia; North Africa’s Roman Djemila and Moorish Tlemcen; and the well-preserved Roman ruins at Italica and Conimbriga on the Iberian Peninsula. Interspersed with our discovery of these rare sites, we will also explore the extraordinarily rich history of Gibraltar, Seville, and the Portuguese towns of Portimao and Sagres.
