Village Life in the Italian Lake District

June 6–14, 2015

Participate in the traditions and daily rhythms of life in Cernobbio, Como, Varenna, Bellagio, and Stresa. Enjoy private cruises on villa-dotted Lake Como and Lake Maggiore, both of which have inspired artists of all disciplines for centuries. Explore the artistic and architectural treasures left by Roman patricians, medieval lords, and Renaissance princes, including the sublime Villa del Balbianello and the enchanting Borromean Islands. By special arrangement, local residents will offer personal perspectives of the area's modern life and cultural heritage, and opportunities to cook—and taste—Lombardy's acclaimed cuisine abound.
